What does our Commodity Manager do

• Align purchasing actions in Europe/Global within his commodities responsibility (metal sheets), in order to fully exploit corporate-level synergy actions.
• Develop and implement Commodity Strategies, a commonly accepted guideline, based on analysis of needs, current position, supply market and via understanding regional/global cost drivers.
• Analyze supply market, identify new sources, contribute in qualify and onboard new suppliers, negotiate and close company contracts, ensure contract coverages.
• Manage Suppliers: carry out supplier assessments, risk assessment, business review- and negotiation plans, ensure execution of adequate implementation actions, follow up capacity planning.
• Monitor Performance and implement efficient measures, Delivery Reliability and Quality.
• Regular alignment with Supplier Quality development, Regional Governance Team Value Engineering, Locations, Purchasing Managers and Strategic Buyers in order to drive implementations, improvement of the commodity, follow up quarterly Gross Saving planning reviews.
• Drive with high priority cost improvement actions with the suppliers as well as with several Knorr-Bremse Locations.
• Ensure the implementation of the Commodity Strategy, drive the purchasing teams’ actions of his/her commodity.

What we expect from you

• A degree in a technical and/ or economical discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering) or strong technical and commercial experience.
• Solid, 5+ years experience in Strategic Purchasing or Commodity Management of sheet metal laser cut and bent parts, stamping and deep drawing. Additional industrial / technical experience is advantage.
• Full determination and ability to autonomously work in functional management, and in cross-locational, European/Global teams, and to drive actions till full implementation.
• International experience of middle or big industrial multinational companies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong abilities in consultancy is an advantage.
• A very good command of English. German is an advantage.
• SAP experience, Data Management, Analytical skills are necessary.
• Strong in solution-oriented negotiation and contractual law knowledge.
• Abilities to adapt to a continuously changing environment.
